Bizarre Turing Phone Is Ditching Android After Taking Preorders
To be honest, when we first saw the so called Turing Phone months ago, it was then touted to described it as ultra-secure Android smartphone that was covered from a liquid metal.
Well just today, it seems that all of those things that I believe remains true. Turing Robotics Industries sent out email to all of its customers who already preordered company’s phone with recent news that, when it ships this April away than its first promised, it would not be running Android anymore. In its place will Sailfish OS, this is an operating system developed by the engineers of ex-Nokia under company identified as J phoneolla.
That was a pretty terrible news to read. Jolla itself struggled to ship products running its software, and recently admitted that they are still very tight in terms of financially and currently negotiating with creditors for extended payment terms so all available financial resources could be efficiently used to secure needed OS development. The company completely abandoned plans to release its tablet crowdfunded on Indiegogo years ago.
Somehow Turing thinks Sailfish OS better option than Android. It is hard to fathom, but it is the move that Turing is making. “Sailfish OS runs exceptionally fast on the Turing,” the company said in its email to preorder customers. “You will not have to worry about performance issues with Turing’s Snapdragon 801 because Sailfish OS has been optimized to run fast on Turing Phone.”
