Doogee’s “bezelless” Y100X droid launched at $85
The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and ZTE Nubia Z9 are two smartphones with nearly zero side bezels. However, when you crave for such sophisticated technology, your budget largely determines whether you are going home with a phone or not — the Galaxy S6 edge costs about $800 in most markets, for example.
But then, welcome the Doogee “Nova” Y100X, a 3G smartphone with 2.5D glass display and “bezelless” technology. Covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS-running smartphone comes with a HD touchscreen display which measures 5 inches diagonal.
Under the hood, you’ll find MediaTek’s mainstream MT6582 chipset doing its thing alongside a Mali 400-MP2 GPU, 1GB of RAM and 1.3GHz Cortex CPU. The handset is powered by 8GB of in-built storage though you’ll get additional space once you pop in a microSD card.
Sporting an 8-megapixel rear camera which is armed with LED flash, the smartphone is adorned by a 5-megapixel secondary camera at the front.
For connectivity, there’s 2G, 3G WCDMA, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and AGPS. A dual (one micro, one mini) SIM slot sits near a 2200mAh battery cell under the device’s removable plastic back cover. Dimensions are 140.97 x 70.10 x 7.87 and the product tips the scale at 119 grams (battery inclusive).
Pricing and availability
Doogee Y100X has been launched in China and will go on sale globally on 16th July (Thursday) costing $85 at Gearbest.
