Gionee finally launches Elife S5.1, priced INR 18,999
Gionee is among the top-dominating OEMs from China. Buy the time the tech company unveiled the Gionee Elife S5.1 in September, the phone was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s thinnest smartphone with it’s 5.15 mm thickness, only for another Chinese start-up to produce a yet thinner device called the Oppo R5 at 4.85 mm thinness.
The Gionee Elife S5.1 comes with a 4.8-inch 720p Super AMOLED display. It runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Amigo 2.0 UI afloat while having an 8MP rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
Powering the smartphone is a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM. There’s 16GB of native storage even though the ultra-sleek body has no space for a microSD card slot. The smartphone supports 2G GSM, 3G WCDMA, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, OTG updates and Wireless LAN. The whole unit is powered by a 2100mAh battery cell.
Pricing and Availability
Gionee Elife S5.1 is available in India at INR 18,999 which translates to about $307. You can purchase the phone starting from the first week of December.The smartphone was also released in China last month for $325 (roughly 20,000).
Gionee also promised to launch the ‘world’s thinnest smartphone’ other markets such as Nigeria where the device will retail at the the price range of 40,000 Naira.
