Goophone i5C Review: Android 4.2 Jelly Bean in iPhone 5c body
You probably haven’t heard of a company named Goophone before? Don’t worry, we haven’t heard about them either, except like a few hours earlier when we learnt about their new phone called Goophone i5C.
Goophone is a Chinese OEM, but unlike most Chinese phone makers they seem to be interested in manufacturing phones that break the laws of physics… Nay, phones that make mockery of the art of phone making. The Goophone i5C looks exactly like an iPhone 5c and on first sight you’ll think it’s one. But on coming closer you’ll notice that this iPhone 5c doesn’t have an Apple logo, neither does it run on iOS 7 even though the icons on it’s screen suggest such — it runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system.
Goophone i5C sports a touchscreen of 4.0 inches, with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and 245 PPI. Not bad when compared to 640 x 1136 pixels, 4.0 inches and 326 PPI on the real Apple iPhone 5c.
Camera-wise, i5C packs a 5MP camera while the iPhone 5c has an 8MP, the i5C makes up with a 2MP camera at the backside as the 5c packs a lesser 1.2MP.
The Goophone i5C is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU, MediaTek MT6572 chipset, Mali-400 MP GPU while Apple slapped a more superior 1.3GHz dual-core CPU, Apple A6 Chipset, PowerVR SGX 543MP3 GPU hardware unto the iPhone 5c.
Coming to batteries, the original iPhone 5c comes with a 1440mAh battery, a far cry from Goophone I5c’s 2000mAh battery. Numbers we would love to test out in a real life scenario.
The ‘fake’ one also beat the real one in another aspect, measuring 124.4 x 59.2 x 8.97 milometers and somehow weighing exactly 132 grams, the i5C is tad bit sleeker than the iPhone 5c which has 124.4 x 59.2 x 9 millimeters and weighs 132 grams.
While you may think that the Goophone i5C is a complete write-off to Apple’s iPhone 5c, remember that apart from one being a copy/rip-off/clone/fake version of the other, both phones were manufactured in China, both have plastic bodies but the Goophone i5C comes with a $125 pricing, with the iPhone 5c coming at nothing not less than $450.
This article was not written in comparison between the Goophone i5C and the iPhone 5c, we all know that Apple has the right to sue Goophone to extinction if they try to ship the i5C in developed countries where patents and copyright issues are put in place and taken seriously.
