HTC One M8’s Google Play edition gets setback in Marshmallow update
HTC is undoubtedly known for its delay in rolling out updates but after an announcement where HTC itself announced that its devices, including the much adored M-series also, would be receiving the Marshmallow update before the end of the year 2015. Like the users of HTC had learned to do over the years though, they took this news with a pinch of salt as they knew HTC could just spawn up an excuse anytime soon. This now didn’t seem to be the case as the Chinese OEM would be rolling out the update to its One M8 device soon. However, there’s a slight delay in rollout for the users of the Google Play edition of this device.
For those of us that are unaware, the Google Play Version of a device is that version that comes without the manufacturer’s branding and any influence from a carrier, leaving it in the traditional Android version – the stock Android.
The HTC’s Vice President of Product Management in person of Mo Versi has revealed via his twitter account that the update to Marshmallow for the Google Play edition of the HTC One M8 has been delayed due to a process aimed at a “re-spin” of the software. Anyways, this shouldn’t set back the HTC One M8 Google Play edition users for a lot of days as the update would start to roll out in a few days.
