‘iOS 8 is now on 56 % of Apple devices’
The big Apple of Cupertino has spoken. According to the iPhone maker, it’s September-released iOS 8 mobile operating system is now running on an estimated 56 % of Apple devices online.
The distribution also shows that last year’s iOS 7 controls 40 % of Apple smartphones, tablets and media players (iPods) while just 5 % of these devices has refused to upgrade to either iOS 7 or 8.
Interestingly, Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat’s adoption rate lies at just 24.5 percent even after almost a year (11 months actually) of being in release. Android’s case is different though, because different OEM’s are responsible for bringing the updates to their smartphones which they usually like to ignore most of the time. However, in iOS, it’s only Apple bringing these updates to less than 10 devices which support their latest OSes.
