John Chen: We can make a BlackBerry Android phone if..
A couple of weeks ago, social media went on fire on hearing the report that Canadian phone maker BlackBerry is not just considering, but already making an Android-powered smartphone. The rumor was greeted with positive and negative assessment from all around the world.
CEO John Chen, while speaking in a statement, has cited that there’s a possibility of BB producing an Android phone but that will boil down on some factors which includes his possibility of keeping things secure in this strange environment:
“We only build secure phones and BlackBerry is the most secure phone so, if I can find a way to secure the Android phone, I will also build that.” — John Chen, CEO of BlackBerry Limited.
Even though Chen is clearly not ruling out the possibility of an Android BB phone with his statement, the 59-year-old Hong Kong-born British-American executive didn’t confirm whether his company was actually making one either.
A top security firm, Kaspersky, recently mentioned Android alongside iOS as two of the most haunted platforms in the mobile ecosystem and this is a point to ponder for anybody thinking of powering their hardware with the Google-owned software.
