LG Electronics unveils G Pad II 10.1 tablet
South Korean big-time tech player, LG (LG Electronics), has pulled the curtains off its latest generation G Pad slate called the G Pad II 10.1. The slate will go on sale shortly after it’s showcasing at the IFA in Berlin today. The first crop of markets where the G tablet will arrive are from North America, Europe and Asia.
As its name suggests, the LG G Pad II 10.1 comes with a 10.1″ touchscreen display which has a WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels) and pixel density of 224 PPI. Measuring 254.3 x 161.1 x 7.8 mm, the tablet tips the scale at a solid 489 grams, inclusive of its 7,400mAh battery cell.
Under the hood, you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset powering the system with a quad-core Krait 400 CPU running at 2.26GHz and Adreno 330 graphics. There’s also 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. Finally, the tablet runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and comes equipped by a 5MP rear / front 2MP camera for taking photos.
In terms of connectivity, the LG G Pad II 10.1 Wi-Fi version has Wi-Fi 802.11 a, b, g, n, ac, A-GPS and USB 2.0 but for added luxury of a SIM card slot and LTE-A connectivity, you’ll have to get the LG G Pad II 10.1 LTE version at a higher value.
Said Chris Yie, VP and head of marketing communications at LG Mobile: “The LG G Pad II 10.1 was developed in response to consumers’ feedback and optimized for multimedia consumption.
“Customers asked for a large display, bigger battery and faster performance all without raising the price. The G Pad II delivers on all counts.”
Pricing for the two variants haven’t been made known.
