OnePlus 2 mini could be on the way by December
During an AMA session on Reddit yesterday, Carl Pei insisted on his declaration that OnePlus is readying a third smartphone. Answering fans’ questions on the social network yesterday, the OnePlus co-founder and CEO, through the company’s representatives confirmed that a OnePlus smartphone will hit the shelves before the end of 2015 but hinted that it’s not a OnePlus 3 or a OnePlus 2S as many publications had suggested.
Since it’s not a OnePlus 3 neither a OnePlus 2S, our instincts tell us that, as rumored, OnePlus could be making a smaller version of its “flagship killers.” Say a OnePlus 2 mini or OnePlus 2 Compact but the demand for a more compact handset from OnePlus staples has been on the rise and is almost turning outrageous especially since OnePlus 2, earlier thought to be packing a smaller body (than the OnePlus One), came out with the same 5.5-inch display and similar dimensions.
OnePlus also confirmed that it’s negligence of an NFC antenna on the 2 is still in place and has no plans to come up with later batches that support NFC connectivity. The company also said it didn’t stop Android Police blog from covering its events, but said media invites and resources were limited and they had to minimize things:
Our PR department has limited resources and an almost unlimited amount of publications to support. Nobody has been “cut off” – anyone can buy our device, review it and post about it, but we can’t give invites to everyone that asks.
