OnePlus 2 goes official on July 27 alongside “Cardboard VR”
The clock is counting down fast to the first ever launch event that will be done in virtual reality, OnePlus tries to tell us through their latest announcement. The sequel to the company’s “perfect smartphone” will break cover on the 27th of next month and it looks like the phone maker will also throw in a VR machine on that day.
Not exactly a high-fi machine like the ones you see from Oculus, OnePlus’ Cardboard VR is basically a paper box where you can throw in your handset and see things unfold in near-3D form without the use of Bluetooth, WiFi and all, unlike in digital VR headsets. The OnePlus 2 launch venue will basically be filled with people wearing their smartphones on their faces with the aid of a thick paper box.
Speaking of what to expect, the scarcity of information on the upcoming OnePlus 2 allowed us to know only of an improved Qualcomm processor from the Snapdragon 801 on the phone’s predecessor. The screen size remains the same or lowered while reports suggest a Quad HD resolution will be thrown in order to compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and LG G4.
