Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge go official
Samsung Galaxy S6
The Samsung Galaxy S6 is the company’s flagship smartphone till, say, around this time next year when another successor is released. With Samsung’s fortunes on the decline, they either get it right this time or bow out.
The handset itself features a 5.1-inch 1440 x 2560 pixels touchscreen, 3GB of RAM and Samsung’s in-house Exynos 7420 chipset with a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 configuration. The handset runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system optimized with an enhanced TouchWiZ UI by Samsung. For storage, the phone comes in either 32GB, 64GB or 128GB in-built, with no space for memory cards.
For photography, the device uses a 16-megapixel camera with a dual-tone LED flash setup at the back. On the front lies a 5MP snapper for taking selfies. The back camera is equipped with optical image stabilization.
A 2,550mAh battery powers the Galaxy S6 and the battery is not user-removable like in previous Samsung smartphones. There’s no fingerprint or dust resistance unlike the Galaxy S5 but there’s NFC and Infrared for remote control.
Samsung Galaxy S6 edge
The Galaxy S6 edge has a 5.1″ Quad HD touchscreen that curves towards both sides of the phone. It packs similar specifications as the Galaxy S6 save for a larger 2,600mAh battery.
Just like it’s sibling above, the Galaxy S6 Edge features a fingerprint sensor with PayPal certification. Samsung Pay (in reference to Apple Pay) will take care of the mobile payment solution and it’s certified by MasterCard. The payment processor will be treated in upcoming articles on our website.
