Samsung sells a lot more units than Apple in 2016, even though they didnt make as much
In the smartphone market race for the year 2016, Samsung and Apple were the ones that took the war to each other again and the long-standing rivalry on who gets the most market continues after that. Last year should have been the year when Samsung finally breaks the hold that Apple and their iPhones have on the market but with the ill-fate that befell their Galaxy Note 7 units worldwide, they ended up coming up shorter than they would have expected with Apple taking more than a lion’s share of the market. Well, there is still a silver lining for Samsung.
According to a new report put together and published by Strategy Analytics, Samsung was able to sell a massive 308.5 million units of smartphones last year alone and coming in second with a modest 215.5 million, is Apple. However, this was not enough to give Samsung the most profits as Apple’s products are averagely higher priced than that of Samsung, and they took home close to 80% of the total revenue in the market.
Safe to say the gamble of a waterproof phone with great camera and hiked price worked wonders.
