Shocking Moment When Schoolgirl was Dragged 100 feet by School Bus
This is the moment a petrified little girl was dragged down the road by a school bus after her backpack got stuck in the door.
Horrified onlookers watched as the child was pulled at least 100 feet along the tarmac by the massive yellow vehicle in Louisville, Kentucky.
Disaster was only narrowly averted when the heroic driver of a red Chevy Camaro spotted the danger, and sped in front of the bus and managed to get it to stop.
“It was amazing. I couldn’t believe it, her bouncing around in that door, all the way down the street, it was bad,” said Tom Carman, who lives on the road where tragedy nearly struck.
A surveillance video shows the red car speeding up behind the school bus.
Neighbours say they originally thought the Camaro’s driver was doing something wrong, but then realized the car was racing to stop the bus, because they’d seen the girl being dragged.
When the bus finally stopped, shocked bystanders ran to help the girl.
She was conscious, talking and “just wanted her mummy,” according to one witness.
She was “scraped up with road rash” and was taken to a children’s hospital for treatment.
The other kids on the bus were moved to a different vehicle.
Police say she had been getting off the bus when her bag got caught in the door.
Authorities say the girl’s condition has not been released, but is expected to recover from her injuries.
