We have survived and now is time for growth: BlackBerry CEO
Who didn’t know when BlackBerry was bleeding red ink, quarter after quarter; When it looked certain that the Canadian phone maker would crumble and die? And now, all thanks to this man called John Chen, the post-2013 CEO of BlackBerry.
Chen has almost stopped BlackBerry’s losses and is gradually steering the company to profit, a goal that doesn’t seem so far away.
“We will survive as a company and now I am rather confident. We’re managing the supply chain, we are managing inventories, we are managing cash, and we have expenses now at a number that is very manageable. BlackBerry has survived; now we have to start looking at growth,” Chen said.
BlackBerry is still heavily counting on the Passport, a real international passport-sized smartphone with a couple of high-end specs and decent pricing. The smartphone’s initial stock of 200,000 units ran empty in a matter of 48 hours. Sales of the BlackBerry Passport has continued to soar higher ever since then.
