Taiwanese phone maker Asus mentioned in buyout of HTC
Days after HTC stock plummeted to a 10-year low, fellow Taiwanese manufacturer, Asus, is reportedly prepping to submit a bid towards the buyout of the phone company.
HTC, last week, unveiled a slash in the company’s sales expectations and that has been causing a major slide southwards in the phone maker’s fortunes — a fall so fast that they hit the market limit of 9.9% change on Wednesday and leaving the shares at a worth of NTD 83.60 each.
Asus, who are reportedly going to line a bid by next week explained that things haven’t gotten to a major stage yet.
“Still, the chances of an actual takeover are not big as Asustek is a company that has depended on organic growth,” CFO of Asus, David Chang, told journalists on Thursday. “Our chairman has chatted about the topic internally,” he concluded.
