Windows Phone at stake: Microsoft pulls out of Samsung patent suit
Samsung and Microsoft have kissed and made up, putting aside legal issues to continue working together to see each other’s stock grow higher.
Earlier this month, Microsoft dragged Samsung to court for failing to hold up their patent licensing agreement which allowed the Koreans use Microsoft’s patents but not without paying licensing fees. However, Samsung failed to live up to the agreement by skipping to pay the dues.
Microsoft is not too angry with Samsung for doing that, especially now the phone maker is helping spread Windows Phone by making smartphones with the OS inside of.
Samsung is said to be wanting a comprehensive agreement whereby they pay Microsoft a one-time payment for the patents so that stuff like annual license renewal fees will be put behind.
