Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi 5 Plus and Redmi Note 2 news and specs round-up
If you are staying up to date with the news, you should have heard that China’s most popular phone maker right now, Xiaomi, is planning to unleash its flagship Mi 5 smartphone on the 15th of January (Thursday).
However, as rumors of two Xiaomi products debuting on that same day gathers dust, the company itself has confirmed the possibility of launching two devices on that day with the latest round of teasers it sent out.
While the Xiaomi Mi 5 is the first handset, the sequel to the company’s Redmi Note phablet, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is also expected as the second participant.
Leaked screenshots of the upcoming Mi 5 we laid our hands on yesterday shows the device using a Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB of RAM instead of the rumored Snapdragon 810/3GB RAM. And that seems to explain a picture tweeted by @leaksfly this morning.
The picture was labeled as Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus. This goes on to explain that the Chinese tech company might be following Meizu’s way of making more powerful and larger variants of their flagships. It’s likely the Plus will be larger at 5.5″ and will feature 3GB of RAM and at least a Snapdragon 805 chip. The 5.2″ Xiaomi Mi 5 will provide alternate cheaper pricing and smaller specs.
