We have heard the news that Blackberry is considering leaving the scene of hardware and focus all their resources on the development of their software division, even so much that they have contracted the making of their last two devices which were based on the Android platform – the DTEK 50 and DTEK 60 – to TCL but before they pull the curtains on everything that they are doing, it seems that they want to bless their loyalists with one final device that carries the flag of what a true Blackberry device is supposed to look like and feel like, in all the sense of it.
Dubbed the Blackberry Mercury, this unit has been rumoured sink the month of July and then in the month of October, we had the chance to see it surface on GeekBench. Like clockwork, the CEO of Blackberry put our minds to rest that what has been treated as a rumour is in fact true and with the live images that have now leaked online, it is no doubt that BlackBerry is hoping to go out with a bang, and in style too.
The live images popped up on Chinese micro blogging website, Weibo, and they show the device in full glare with its front facing camera also given some emphasis. As far as the specs go, we already know that the screen would be limited to 4.5 inches and a 2.0GHz processor would be paired with 3GB of RAM and an internal storage space of 32GB. As regards the camera, there is an 8MP shooter on the font and an 18MP snapper out back.
To further add the original Blackberry, feel, the physical keyboard has been restored.
Already, this one is looking like a promising venture.
