BB Neon to offer full Android OS, 3GB of RAM, 13MP back shooter

Blackberry started to make a slow transition from the BB OS to the Android platform first with their experiments on the BB 10, then the launch of a BlackBerry Priv last year and now, they have gone the way of Android fully with their new device – the Blackberry Neon. The BB Neon is expected to hit the market soon but ahead of its official launch, we already have some leaks that gives us what to look forward to, although we must tell you that they are not as impressive as you might have expected.

For one, the build of the device lumps it up with other Android devices in the mid-range category and nothing about it screams BlackBerry at all. It seems they have finally dumped their idea of a physical keypad with the 5.2 inch, 1080 pixel display screen and going forward, they have opted to run the device on the QUALCOMM snapdragon 617 chipset coupled with a CPU at 3GB of RAM.

For the storage needs, there is provision for a native 16GB already and this should be more than enough to hold the pictures you snap with either the 13MP camera behind or the 8MP in front. With a 2160mAh battery and a support for Quick Charge 2.0, next month is supposed to be the official unveiling of this device that would sell for around $350.
