And before the talks of HTC’s One M9 die down, here’s another storm ramping up elsewhere in the HTC camp, albeit a good storm at that. The Taiwanese phone is said to be making yet another variant of its outgoing flagship, the HTC One (M8). This new device will be called the HTC One M8i and the much difference lies in the processor in use.
A report by @upleaks quotes that the One M8i is “almost same dimension/weight” as the HTC One (M8). There’s a 5″ 1080p display as well as 2GB of RAM and 5MP front-facing camera. The back of the phone is manned by two “3D” cameras — a 13MP main camera and 2MP “satellite” shooter for special camera effects. The phone will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop brewed with HTC’s Sense 7.0 UI.
For the processor, the One (M8) uses a Snapdragon 801 chipset but this one is rooting for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 chipset with two sets of four CPU cores with 1.7GHz and 1.0GHz on the respective sets.
The One M8i will pack NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, a microSD card slot and a battery of less than 3000mAh, however, the leakstar failed to give the exact launch date of the device but we’ll like to think it should be late February or during the MWC early next month.
