LG lands Apple Watch display contract

LG and Apple have always been best of friends in display. Ranging from the tiny touchscreens on iPod Touch devices, to the large screens on iPads, LG has been producing excellent displays for the Cupertino-based tech giant.

Being one of the pioneers in flexible display (the LG G Flex comes to mind here), LG Electronics was reportedly selected by Apple for making the plastic, flexible touchscreens going to be found on Apple Watch devices when these wearables hit the shelves later this year.

An analyst at JP Morgan, JJ Park, predicts that Apple is going to sell over 26 million smartwatches this year alone, so this should be putting LG in charge of making at least 15 million of these displays since Apple is well known for diversifying contracts between several companies to avoid shortage of supply.

Apple Watch flavors
Announced during the launch of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014, the Apple Watch is going to come in several designs and body materials. The smartwatch is going to have over 24 different flavors in order to satisfy just about everybody’s taste.
