Meizu’s Ubuntu-running handset seems ready as company teases launch at MWC

Remember last year when Ubuntu signed an agreement with Cannonical to create the first smartphone with Ubuntu OS? The moment we all have been waiting for seems to be finally here at last.

Flyme YunOS teaser
A teaser sent out by the Chinese tech outfit on Facebook hints that the phone maker will/may launch a product at the Mobile World Congress — coming up in Barcelona on March 1 — which will neither be running on the company’s Flyme OS nor Yun OS (both based on Android) but on something really new this time.

Even as Meizu launched the MX Pro with Android OS, there were still indications that another edition of the smartphone might be coming out with Ubuntu following several rounds of leaks. The MWC is just a couple of weeks away. We’ll look out and see how things fold out at the event even though we can hardly wait.
