Qualcomm dismisses overheating issues of Snapdragon 810, says everything is on track

Every year, we get to see new flagship smartphones stand tall above all other thousands of smartphones made same year. For quite sometime, these flagships are made possible by Qualcomm chipsets — Samsung Galaxy S5, Note 4, Sony Xperia Z3 and HTC One (M8) can all attest to that.

However, a new report coming out from the industry which surfaced yesterday says that all is not right for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 chipset which is expected to beat in the heart of 2015 flagships. The issue is said to be coming from overheating from the processor’s graphics unit.

Jon Carvill QualcommJon Carvill, a spokesman for the California-based semiconductor firm has come out to rubbish talks of the entire story which emanated from South Korean media.

“I can tell you that everything with Snapdragon 810 remains on track and we expect commercial devices to be available in 1st half of 2015”, the Senior Director of Public Relations of Qualcomm was quoted saying in an e-mail.

What this means is that the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S6, HTC Hima, LG G4 and even the Sony Xperia Z4 might not be affected after all.
