Just like most things in technology, every mobile phone has its pros and cons. It might be a little shocking to you to know that this 16-year-old mobile phone (Nokia 8210) is the most preferred mobile phone for drug dealers in the United Kingdom.
Why are “dealers” interested in this old phone?
According to Vice who spoke to several UK drug dealers, the Nokia 8210 is difficult for police and law agencies to trace, not for its tininess, but for because the handset is “hard to track.”
“I’ve got three Nokia 8210 phones and have been told they can be trusted, unlike these iPhones and new phones, which the police can easily [use to] find out where you’ve been,” an alleged pot dealer told the website. “At least I can trust an old Nokia.”
A user said he had a good bargain for his 8210 when his seller discovered he had the phone. He eventually traded the outdated piece of tech for $50 worth of cocaine. A Birmingham phone retailer also confessed that the Nokia phone is usually sold out straight away once any stock arrives.
Meanwhile, a search on eBay and confirms that the Nokia 8210 is selling for as high as £92 on the “Used Phones” section of the e-commerce platform.
