Samsung, unsurprising, sold 20 million Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphones in the first two months of the phone’s release while HTC sold 5 million units of One, beating the later at the ratio of 4:1.

While Samsung invested a lot of funds in advertising their last year flagship device, HTC’s allergy to marketing during the year, coupled with shortage of supply for their own flagship device saw that the Koreans beat the Taiwanese by a wide margin.

HTC and Samsung are no mates per sales figures though. While Samsung remains the biggest seller of phones in the world, HTC is nowhere near the top of the list.
