Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S5 mini.
The new smartphone comes with a 4.5-inch AMOLED display with 720p resolution. There’s an 8MP camera on the back of the mobile phone and another 2.1MP camera unit at the front.
Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini sports a 1.4GHz quad-core CPU, 1.5GB of RAM , and Samsung’s Exynos 3470 chipset.
The smartphone runs on Google’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat mobile OS platform. It features 16GB of native storage while there’s space for a microSD slot.
In terms of body, the GS5 mini which measures 131.1 x 64.8 x 9.1 mm and tips the scale at 120 grams, sports a perforated back cover, a design mirrored from the GS5. But that’s not the only physical feature it got from the Galaxy S5.
The device is IP 67 water and dust resistant. There’s also a fingerprint sensor embedded under the Galaxy brand’s generic home button on the phone.
The Galaxy S5 mini also has an Infrared blaster. With that, you can control your TV from your couch without the aid of a remote control. This feature is also present on the Galaxy S5 and even the older Samsung Galaxy S4.
Availabilty of the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini is in white, gold, or black colors. The phone will be released later this month and it has a price tag of €479 in Europe.
