Production of some Samsung devices could be affected after the Korean phone maker shut down one of its domestic factories due to a Coronavirus scare last weekend.
Located in Gumi, the second largest city in the North Gyeongsang Province of South Korea, the Samsung factory where the Coronavirus incident took place is responsible for production of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Fold that were sold in the local market.
It was reported by Reuters that at least one Samsung employee was diagonized with Coronavirus last week, thus prompting the phone maker to shutdown the Gumi factory till February 24th.
“The company has placed colleagues who came in contact with the infected employee in self-quarantine and taken steps to have them tested for possible infection,” Samsung Electronics said in a statement.
Samsung is the world’s largest maker of smartphones in terms of number of units sold. The South Korean company earlier this month shut down some of its factories in China over fear of Coronavirus.
Devices made by Chinese company Huawei have reportedly been banned by POTUS, Donald Trump, from being used in government establishments such as the military and police.
Not satisfied with the action, the 45th president of the United States has now notified the country’s allies such as Germany, Italy, and Japan, warning them of the dangers of using Huawei stuff such as smartphones and network equipment.
But what could be the reason behind this ban?
Although Wall Street Journal first reported that Trump told US allies to shun Huawei products last week, Huawei has been facing a long-time resentment from the US government because it “shares” user information gathered from millions of its devices sold worldwide with Chinese government.
Trump has also allegedly offered financial benefits to countries if they place Huawei devices on their blacklist.

Apple has now informed its outsourced manufacturer, Foxxcon to pipe down production of the flagship Apple iPhone Xs models due to lack of sales. Part of the reasons for the unfavorable sales could be the nearness of the release of the Xs models to the 2017 debut of the similar-looking X models. Both range of iPhones (Xs, Xs Max and X, X Max) are noticeably identical in terms of hardware and even to some extent similar in software.
