Tecno, on Monday held a launching ceremony for their new flagship device, the Tecno Phantom AIII(Phantom A3). Unfortunately, Africa’s biggest phone website Bestmobs.com wasn’t at the event even though Tecno said on it’s Facebook page that “gentlemen of the press” were there to cover the launching. ‘Ogbanje’ bloggers may have now become “gentlemen of the press” as we haven’t seen any information about the launch in any of the websites/blogs as of Tuesday morning.
Back to the phone, we managed to scrap some information on the specifications of the Tecno Phantom A3 from our trusted friends. The Phantom A3 has a 6.0-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution.
Other features coming with the A3 includes a quad-core 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6589 processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (about 13.5GB accessible by user).
The Phantom A3 strikes a 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front-facing camera like it’s predecessor. It can record videos of up to 1080p at 60 frames per second.
If you are a regular visitor to this website, you can recall that Tecno signed a deal with Blackberry which will allow new Tecno Android phones to come preloaded with Blackberry Messenger. Now it’s not clear if the Phantom AIII will rock BBM out of the box but we know you can still install the app on any Android 4(and higher) phone from Google Play.
Tecno seemed to have ditched their “F” series naming. The Phantom A was also known as F7, the Phantom AII as F8 while the AIII was supposed to be named Tecno F9(see what we did there?). Tecno decided to chill naming the AIII as F9 because apparently, they seem to be afraid of failure.
We expect the Tecno Phantom A3 to hit the shelves by December with a retail price of $235. Bestmobs will bring you more updates when the device hits the market.
