For the first time in the recent history of smartphones, Windows Phone has outdone iOS in sales in Latin America.
IDC reported that Microsoft’s mobile OS, Windows Phone, has had a 156% year-on-year growth from last year in the region where it now occupies the second spot for the most popular smartphone operating system. Low priced Windows Phone 8 devices played a major role in the increase, with Nokia Lumia 520 being the usual suspect.
“Delivering smartphones with full features in low cost devices has been a major success of Windows Phone, showing their understanding of Latin America market. There are users that have just begun their journey in the smartphones world and low range devices like the Nokia Lumia 520, offer a complete experience for the user.”, Oliver Flores, an IDC analyst said.
