Xiaomi Mi 4
After all the media hype and expectations, Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has finally lifted the veils off it’s Mi 4 smartphone.
The phone lived up to it’s expectations in specs, though, in some aspects. For example, things like a 16MP OIS camera and Snapdragon 895 chipset were no where to be found.
The Xiaomi Mi 4 comes with a 5-inch 1080p display by JDI. Sitting on the front of the phone is an 8MP camera and on the rear side is a 13MP camera and LED flash.
The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset (not bad) with a quad-core 2.5GHz Krait 400 CPU, Adreno 330 graphics and 3GB of RAM.
Though the Mi 4 doesn’t come inside a metal body as expected. The sides are rounded by some glossy stainless metal. The phone further packs a 3080mAh battery which is not user-removable.
Pricing for the Xiaomi Mi 4 isn’t as high as many expected. As the phone comes in two storage formats, the 16GB model costs $320 while the 64GB version goes for $400.
And oh, let’s not forget that the Mi 4 is water and dust resistant (IP 67), so it can withstand 30 minutes of 1 meter submersion into water.
Accompanying the Mi 4 is a smart band. Yes, a Xiaomi smart band, and it’s even priced as low as $13.
The Mi Band is a fitness tracker with an acclaimed 30-day battery life on a single charge, The Band has Bluetooth 4.0 and will be sold separately from the Mi 4 (ie. it wouldn’t be included in the box of the smartphone when sold).
